Week 8 Progress

My Progress Over the Semester
To me, this progress is like climbing a mountain. Once I reach the top I will feel unstoppable. Picture from: U.S. Army
With this class, I have found myself being able to try new things with my creative writing skills from week to week. In the first week, I tried taking the storyline from the original story and creating my own. For the second week's story that had a lot of fun by creating my own rhyming scheme for the story. I want to be able to use all these new things I am learning and trying and transfer them into my storybook over the rest of the semester. I love trying random things, however, maybe I should for this project I should try and keep things constant. I could also try to take these new concepts I like doing and making them better each week. I have been struggling lately to find my groove with  school. I think this is because I am graduating in May and just feel done, however, I really want to end this semester strong! I want to set aside some time each day to really focus on my studies.

Week 8 Comments and Feedback

I liked this infographic the most because you can see that you are always learning from yourself and others, like a cycle. The infographic is by Tanmay Vora: Leadership and The Art of Effective Listening

While I am going back and reading through some of the comments people have made on my stories and introduction I feel pretty good! It really means a lot that these people were able to write so much about my stories and into. I really like how they all started out with something they liked about my stories and then moved into some constructive criticism. The ones I really loved reading are the ones who felt connected to my storybook through feminism and my analogy at the beginning. My favorite suggestions was, "My “what if” for you would be what if after you finished your storybook of these women, you found representations of these women in modern popular media and did a compare and contrast." I love the suggestion and it would give me a type of story I can write about and give thanks to Amandeep Kaur for her awesome suggestion.

I really hope my comments have been giving some smiles and feel happy that they are not too harsh on what can be fixed. One thing I would like to practice while giving more feedback in the future is by coming up with some creative ideas for their storybook. I love getting input from people and what they would love to see from me.

Week 8 Reading and Writing

By: Maria Dawson
I love this picture of a lake by PXFeul .

Overall for my blog, I really like the brightness and all the colors. For me personally, I really enjoy pinks, yellows, blues, as you can see from both my blog and websites. I feel really proud of myself thus far with this last semester. Before this class, I have never written for fun or did any creative written and it turns out that I really enjoy it. I have found the most help by using the reading notes to really give myself multiple ideas on what I want to write about. By coming up with multiple ideas and finding an element to focus on each week. I have been able to expand what I like to write about any trying ideas each week. For my favorite picture, I choose the one picturing a lake. I like this image the best because this is where I feel I am happiest. When I get to lay under the stars, go hiking, and fishing I feel very free and this picture reminds me of this feeling.
